But, Knicks has been named as the landing spot for Giannis Antetokounmpo.

Fresh off a blockbuster trade to acquire star center Karl-Anthony Towns ahead of the 2024-25 season, the New York Knicks are still being talked about as a player to make other moves if they come available.

One of those moves happens to do with the future of Milwaukee Bucks superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo.

There have been rumblings over the last few weeks that he could leave the Bucks if things don’t go right in Milwaukee this season. If that were to happen, the Knicks are one of the teams in the conversation to land him.

Jack Simone of Hardwood Houdini has listed the New York team as a potential suitor if Antetokounmpo were traded.

“Jalen Brunson and Antetokounmpo alone would make the Knicks a top contender in the East. If they can keep one-or two-of Karl-Anthony Towns, Mikal Bridges, or OG Anununoby in the deal, their roster would be on par with Boston’s,” Simone wrote.

He also said it might be hard to come up with the trade assets to get Antetokounmpo. At the same time, the Knicks do have several star talents they could consider moving in a deal for someone like Antetokounmpo.

Could you imagine Antetokounmpo in the Big Apple? If they could keep Towns and Anunoby, that would put them at Jalen Brunson, Towns, O.G. Anunoby, and Antetokounmpo. Those four would give the Knicks a real good shot at the championship.

Granted, this is kind of a long shot and probably won’t happen. That Milwaukee traded Antetokounmpo would be quite surprising, to say the least.

Antetokounmpo is coming off a 2023-24 NBA season with the Bucks in which he averaged 30.4 points, 11.5 rebounds, 6.5 assists, 1.2 steals and 1.1 blocks per contest. He shot 61.1 percent from the floor.

It may not be the likeliest of scenarios, but hey, a fan can dream. New York certainly would have a good draw for a superstar like Antetokounmpo if he does leave the Bucks.

While it’s something to keep in the back of the mind for the future, no one should get their hopes up to see this happen. It’s nevertheless exciting to see the Knicks mentioned as a possible suitor.
