He could’ve died from it,” — an emotional Shaunie O’Neal said during the eighth-season premiere of her VH1 show, “Basketball Wives.” For those who might not know, she is the ex-wife of Shaquille O’Neal and mother to Shareef O’Neal, who also suffered a similar fate as that of Bronny James. While LeBron James’ son was lucky enough to get through alive from his cardiac arrest and get drafted in the NBA, O’Neal Jr’s life was different in the turn of events. Shareef had a right anomalous coronary artery in his heart which derailed his basketball career and NBA prospect.
That’s one regret Shaquille O’Neal still has in his life as the NBA legend opened up with his feelings seeing LeBron make history with Bronny as the first father-son duo in the league. On the latest episode of the Big Podcast With Shaq, the 7-footer touched upon the hot debate surrounding Bronny.
“I don’t know this about you, but I strive off professional jealousy. Jealous a little bit,” Shaq said when asked about LeBron having the chance to play with his son. “I take things that make me mad and instead of hating, I use it to motivate me. So my son was in that position. Life is all about titles. I would have loved to have that title first. Now that that’s out of the way, I’m glad for Bron.
