Michael Olise produced a brilliant performance as Bayern Munich opened their Champions League campaign with a dominant 5–0 victory over Bodø/Glimt.
The French winger scored twice in the second half, helping Bayern turn a competitive match into a comfortable victory.
Bayern entered the game looking to recover from a disappointing domestic result, and the first half ended without a goal. However, the German champions dramatically increased the pressure after the break.
Jamal Musiala opened the scoring shortly after half-time before Harry Kane doubled Bayern’s advantage.
Alphonso Davies then added a third before Olise took control of the final stages.
The winger scored Bayern’s fourth goal in the 83rd minute and completed his brace deep into stoppage time.
Olise’s performance highlighted his growing importance to Bayern. Since arriving at the club, he has increasingly demonstrated his ability to create chances, score goals and influence matches from wide positions.
His combination of technical ability, creativity and composure has made him one of Bayern’s most exciting attacking players.
Kane also played an important role, scoring once and assisting another goal. The England captain remains one of Bayern’s biggest weapons in the final third.
Bodø/Glimt were eventually overwhelmed, and their situation became even more difficult after a late red card.
For Bayern, however, the result represents an ideal Champions League start.
Manager Vincent Kompany will be particularly pleased with the team’s ability to remain patient after a goalless first half before eventually breaking through.
The 5–0 scoreline gives Bayern confidence heading into the rest of the European campaign.
Olise’s two goals will attract much of the attention, but Bayern’s overall attacking display demonstrated why they remain among the clubs capable of challenging for the Champions League title.
If Olise continues producing performances like this alongside Kane and Musiala, Bayern could possess one of Europe’s most dangerous attacking units.
