Arsenal have renewed their interest in Julián Álvarez as Mikel Arteta continues searching for another major attacking addition.
The Gunners are reportedly prepared to go beyond £100 million for the Argentine forward, making him one of the most expensive potential signings of the summer.
Álvarez has been outstanding since joining Atlético Madrid in 2024, establishing himself as one of Europe’s most dangerous forwards. His versatility is particularly attractive to Arsenal because he can operate as a central striker while also contributing from wider attacking positions.
Arsenal’s interest comes after their attempts to strengthen the attack have encountered several obstacles. The club have already made significant additions elsewhere, but Arteta still wants another player capable of providing goals and creativity.
However, completing a deal for Álvarez would be extremely difficult. The forward still has a long-term contract with Atlético and remains an important part of their plans. There is also competition for his signature, with Barcelona reportedly interested in bringing him back into La Liga.
For Arsenal, the potential transfer would represent another huge investment following their summer spending spree. The club have already strengthened their midfield and defence, and adding Álvarez would give Arteta another elite option in attack.
The Argentine’s experience in the Premier League could also make him an attractive target. Having previously played for Manchester City, Álvarez already understands the demands of English football.
At this stage, Arsenal’s interest is clear, but the deal remains complicated. Atlético will not want to lose one of their biggest stars, while Álvarez’s own preference could ultimately play an important role.
If Arsenal somehow manage to pull it off, however, Álvarez would immediately become one of the biggest signings in the Premier League this summer.
