Con Harrison says Arsenal have targeted Sunderland star Jobe Bellingham, who they have scouted several times this season.
The scout and Gunners’ insider, who has appeared on the BBC and The Overlap and is followed by the likes of Ben Jacobs, Jacob Steinberg and Darren Lewis on X, this morning claimed that Arsenal see the ball-carrying ability of the Englishman from midfield as a key attribute they could do with in the middle of the park.
Bellingham, who Black Cats manager Regis Le Bris describes as ‘so powerful’, will leave the Championship club at the end of the season and the North Londoners are keeping tabs on him.
Arsenal may miss the services of Jorginho and Thomas Partey next season as both players’ contracts expire at the end of the ongoing season, and the Sunderland star can be signed to fill the vacant positions.
The Gunners will be keen on strengthening their midfield options ahead of next season, and Bellingham would fit just fine for them.
The 19-year-old has so far featured in 22 league games for the promotion-chasing club this term, weighing in with four goals and three assists after ending last term with seven goals and an assist in 45 Championship appearances.
Apart from being a central midfielder and defensive midfielder, the England youth international can also play as a forward, and Arsenal could do with his goalscoring instincts.
His strengths include his defensive contribution, holding on to the ball, playing through balls and blocking the ball, and a combination of him and Declan Rice in midfield for the Gunners could make the difference-maker for the team.
Landing him could prove tricky, though, as plenty of the biggest clubs in England and across Europe will be looking to recruit his services, and Arsenal may need to table a deal Sunderland and the player cannot reject.
