FC Barcelona’s on holiday break, and Frenkie de Jong’s exit looms in 2025.

A round-up of the latest Barcelona news and rumors

The FC Barcelona first team squad will have a short break following the game against Atlético Madrid at the Estadi Olímpic Lluís Companys. Hansi Flick’s men will enjoy a few days holiday over the festive period to recharge their batteries before taking on the challenges to come in 2025.

Barça Atlètic had to settle for a point against the Athletic Club second team at the Estadi Johan Cruyff in a lively game to end 2024. But the game chosen to celebrate the 125th anniversary with the fans was a frustrating one, as Barça led twice but in both cases the visitors responded. The reserves now have some time off before returning on January 11 with a visit to Cultura Leonesa.

The majority of Barcelona’s squad will head away for a Christmas break in the coming days with one notable exception – Ansu Fati. With the Spanish domestic season now paused, Barcelona will look to take stock ahead of the campaign restart, after a poor end to 2024.

Barcelona star Frenkie de Jong is approaching a crossroads at the club in 2025. De Jong has tentatively returned to full fitness in recent weeks, after a miserable series of injury setbacks across the last 12 months, which had placed his La Blaugrana career in danger.

Robert Lewandowski has made a fantastic start to the season, having scored 23 goals in 24 appearances for Barcelona. However, he has struggled of late, as he has found the net only once (vs Real Betis) in his last five matches.

Barcelona have received offers for Garcia from Newcastle United, Girona and FC Porto. However, the player has no desire to leave mid-season, and he only thinks about staying put.
