The Dallas Mavericks finished their preseason with a blowout win over the short-handed Milwaukee Bucks and have since started making preparations with regards to getting down to their regular season roster. That means that they are waiving players on training camp/non-guaranteed deals to finalize their roster.
Dallas announced super early this morning they had waived A.J. Lawson, Jamarion Sharp, and Emanuel Miller. Lawson was waived a little over a week ago from his standard non-guaranteed deal and brought back on a two-way contract. It seems they need to open that spot for somebody, likely Jazian Gortman.

Jamarion Sharp was the tallest player in college basketball last season and has been having a solid interior presence in the preseason, with six blocks across four games. It wouldn’t be out of the question to see him added to the Texas Legends, Dallas’ G-League affiliate.
Likewise, young Emanuel Miller started the preseason on fire but lost minutes in the final two preseason games when Jason Kidd’s ramp-up increased into early regular season territory. Miller is a five-year college man in Texas and would very probably prefer to stay in Texas, if possible.
But opening that two-way slot, though, via the Lawson waiver gives the Mavs some choices. They can promote Gortman from his Exhibit-10 deal or scour the market to see who else gets waived around the league. Considering how well Gortman played in the preseason, though, he might just become a priority for the Mavs and their front office.
